The New Zealand champion cueist, J. W. Read, arrived back in Wellington on Saturday. He played at Carterton on Friday last, conceding a local player 401) ■in 750, and won by 120. His best breaks were 170,' SO, 72, G7, 56, 52, and 46. After the game an exhibition of fancy and masse strokes was given by tho champion, lie remains in Wellington a week, and (hen travels to New Plymouth and intermediate towns.
