CENTENARY
PRIMITIVE METHODIST CELEBRATIONS. PROCESSIONS TO MOW COP. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Rec. Juno 20, 10.15 p.m.) London, .Tune 20. Sixty thousand Primitive Methodists from all parts of tho world aie attending the centenary celebrations. Processions took placo yesterday to Mow Cop, in Cheshire, tho sito of the founders' first camp meeting, and services were held on the hillside. : THANKSGIVING FUND. . The Primitive Methodists have been making a strenuous elTort to securo a promise list of <£250,000 for the Thanksgiving Fund in connection with tho centenary. At the Southport Conference, last June, .£75,000 was still uiuissured. Tho disturbing effects of a general election almost destroyed the hopo of realising tho cherished aim, but new promises have been coming in so rapidly recently that a triumphant report by the Rev. G. Armstrong, tho organising secretary, is highly probable. A hundred preachers and speakers have been engaged for the ramp meetings on Mow Cop. The deep interest being taken in the gatherings by Primitive .Methodists indicates even la.rger assemblages than took place in 1907, when on one of tho days the railway offioiaJs stated that they had handled 70,000 tickets.
