FIRE AT MANGAWEKA.
SEVERAL BUILDINGS BURNED. (By Tclcßraph r Preßs Association.) Marton, Juno 14. At Mangaweka at 5.30 o'clock last night a lire broko out at the rear of Mr. G. Carter's jewellery shop. It was somo timo before the flames' appeared, and most of tho stock, furniture, etc., was removed. Buildings on tho other side of the road narrowly escaped the fire, which spread to Mrs. Summers's private house, Mr. Dougald Campbell's tobacconist shop and billiard saloon, and an unoccupied butcher's shop.. All were reduced to ashes. The insurances are: Mrs. Summers, .C 250 on tho building and £\W on the furniture, both in tho Royal. Messrs. Campbell and Carter were uninsured. Fortunately it was a calm night, otherwise the Sash and Door Factory's premises would probably have caught, and tho whole block destroyed. There was a very poor water supply. '[The Minimax Hand.
