A romantic story was disclosed at the hearing of a charge against a 17-year-old girl of being a disorderly person for having dressed in boy's clothes. A fortnight ago the girl joined the Boys' Institute, participated in games there, and sought to secure employment on. a farm. The discovery of her sex was made a couple of days ago. The girl (who appeared in court in boy's clothes) stated that she had run away from home in Canada. She declined to give details, adding that she had committed no crime. She gave as-her reason for dressing in boy's clothes that a single girl could not travel without a disguise. She declared that she would nevei wear women's clothes again.
