RIFLE SHOOTING.
I AUSTRALIAN BISLEY TEAM. By Tolecrarh—Press Association—Oonyrieht London, June 12. Tho Australian rillo learn to compete at Bisley have arrived. They will commonce practice on Monday. A welcome was given them on arrival. Among those present were Sir George Reid (Australian High Commissioner) and the Council of tho National Riflo Associaton. Major-General Lord Cheylesmoro (a patron of- rifle-shooting) paid a tribute to the public spirit of the citizens of ihe Commonwealth in subscribing to the Empire trophy. Ho read a message from King George heartily welcoming the Australians upon their arrival in tho Mother Couutry. The team replied expressing a loyal appreciation of the. gracious message. The following are tho members of the Australian team:— New South Wales.-A. Cutler, O. E. Boyd, G: Fisher. Victoria.—R. Reseigh, L. Armstrong, J. H. Williams. ' South Australia.— J. F. Burgoyne, F. M. Best. . Queensland.—H. Gory. L. Grany. West Australia— J. Halligan. Tasmania.—W. A. Pilbeam. Major J. J. Paine, of New South Wales, is commandant of tho team, and Captain T. Pye, of Queensland, shooting captain! THE NGATIAWA CLUB. Our Reikorangi correspondent states that the Ngatiawa Riflo Club fired the eighth and final match of the year for the Elder Cup on tho local range recently. The conditions-were seven shots at 200, 500, and GOO yards, with a compulsory sightcr. Rifleman Howe topped the list with a fine score of 97. Rifleman R. Howe, who has represented New Zealand at Bisley, and who' has for over thirty years been among the Dominion leading shots, has apparently, sinco the advent ol the aper- , ture sights, taken a fresh, lease of life in the shooting world.' Only a few weeks ago ■ Rifleman Howe decided to adopt the now sight. Since then he has competed in threo matches over 200, 500, and GOO yards, and on each occasion-ho has put on tho good score of 97, which looks as if ho 1 is going to be a formidable man at Trentham next year.- ■ '
