There has been somo speculation of lato (says tho Auckland "Star") as to the possibility of further appointments. ' being roado to tiio Legislative Council, in view of the.vacancies recently caused by deaths. Sinco the Ward Adminis-. tration camo into offico four seats havo been 'rendered vacant by tho decease of tho Hons. H. Feldwick, J- Holmes, F. Trask, and R. H. J. lucres. 11l addition, by Julio 22, five appoint-' monts wiil havo expired by tho effluxion of time, viz., tliose of the Hons. W. Beelian, S. Thome George, T. K. llacdonald, H. F. Wigram, and Mahuta to "Wherowiiero. Three courses arc open to tho Government—firstly to fill the vacancies, and make the .reappointments: secondly, not to fill the vacancies at ail, and simply make tho reappointments; or, thirdly, to make no appointments at ail. There is good authority for stating that in all probability tlio second eourso will bo tho ono' adopted, rho seats rendered vacant by deaths will not be filled, but the five gentlemen going out by effluxion of timo will ba reappointed-
