AMERICAN COW TEST.
SURPRISING YIELDS. Considerable interest throughout America has been aroused in the dairy cow contest in lowa, says the "Breeders' Gazette." There were seventy cows that yielded 301b. of butter-fat or over during October. This is approximately half of the cows entered in the test. A cow that will give 301b. in one month, ought certainly to bo good for 3001b. in a year. In this class of seventy cows twenty gave over 30 and under 351b.; thirteen gave over 35 and under 401b.; sixteen gave over 40 and under 501b.; fourteen gave over 50 and under 601b.; four gave over 60 and under 701b.; one gave 881b.; and two gavo over 1001b. each. If one man owned the wholo herd of seventy cows his dairying would bo decidedly profitable, for during the month the milk yield amounted to 70,084.61b., or approximately 3,542.3 quarts. Tho biitterfat yield would have been 2,896.511b.
