(From Our Special Correspondent.! ♦ Tlie concert held in tlie Lower Hutt Town Hall on Wednesday evening for tlie purposo of inaugurating tlio St. James's Anglican Ohurcli organ fund was a pronounced success. The programme (an excellent ono) was well received by the largo audience present, and in many instances, the performers were recalled. Mr. Mowbray apologised for the unavoidable absence of Mr. R. Parker. The programme was as under: —Glee, under the direction of Mr. Mowbray; quartet, violins,' 'cello and pianoforte, Misses Cuff v ' (2) and Elliott and Mr. Mowbray; songs, Mr. James Searlo and Mr. Walter Warren; pianoforte solo, Miss Harte; song, Miss Phoebe Parsons; quartet, Messrs. J. Searle, E. Trcmain, W. Warren and G.' Parsons; part song, under the direction of Mr. Mowbray; songs, Mr. J. Searle and Miss Watnich; quartet, Messrs. Searle, Freeman, Warren, and Parsons Mr. Georgo Parsons and Miss Phoebe Parsons. Tlio weekly session of the Petone 1.0. G.T. was held last night when Bro. Denby, C.T., presided over a good attendance. One member was reobligated and two new members were initiated. Mr. Barrett, E.D., from Marlborough, was a visitor to tho lodge. 'After the usual business tho lodge went into harmony. Items were given by Sisters Denby and Millward, and Bros. Robertson and Kyle. To-day is set apart at the Petone District High School a-s "Parents' day." The headmaster invites parents and the public to visit the school during the school hours, and see the children at. their cvery-day work. Added to tho ordinary lessons there will be cadet drill, woodwork, cookery, chemistry, and needlework. A, meeting of tho Petone Ambulance Wagon Fund Committee was hold in tlie_ Mayor's rooms last night. It was decided to accept tho tender of Mr. S. Cromin, of Potono, for the building of the wagon, at a cost of £146 10s. Two other tenders were received. Mr. B. Johnson, of Petone, is to be asked to act as supervisor, while' the work of building the wagon is being done. It was : also stated at the meeting that Hutt residents would bo allowed the use of tho wagon at a nominal fee.
