-—. —$ THEATRE ROYAL. The present .programme at tho Theatre Royal, which is fast drawing to a close, is a programme of last appoarances. Ranco Smith, the surprising' stop-dancer, Victor the favourite, and Frank Yorke, the boisterously entertaining, will all be missed from the familiar boards after this wook. Last night these and other members of Messrs. Fullers' ■ clever company wore given a gratifying reception by another large attendance. They will appear again to-night and to-morrow, and Monday will show a number of new faces. HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. The current series of pTcouros at His Majesty's are full of interest. Last night . the attendance was largo as usual, and patrons did not fail to show their keen appreciation of the programme "American police methods" is the subject of a particularly interesting film, in view of. the accounts which have last como to hand regarding the fortunes of tho "third degree." In "The-Final Settlement," and "The Thread of Destiny," are two thrilling American drainab. One of the most wonderful pictures is undoubtedly the one' which depicts the life of a butterfly. Humorous films of high quality are a feature of the series. Tho programme will bo repeated tonight. KING'S THEATRE. Parisian Apaches, in their native haunts, the launching of tho new Australian torpedo destroyer Yarra, pictures of "Dick" Arnst training on the Parramatta, travel pictures from Bavaria, India, Java, and the Celebees, with the usual tragedies' and farces, make up a particularly strong programme at the King's Theatre. The entertainment, which was greatly appreciated by a large audience last evening, will' be repeated to-night. STAR PICTURES!, Several excellent films .. are being shown in connection with this week's programme of Star Pictures at St. Thomas's Hall.- Worthy of special mention is that entitled "Under Field Instructions." The programme will be repeated to-night. ■ • ~ LIVING NEW ZEALAND. Tho Wellingtcmian who . has not "dono" New Zealand per medium ol the train, steamer, and coach is afforded an opportunity by the Now Zealand Picture Company, which is now showing at the Town Hall, of seeing tho beauty spots of the Dominion screened per kinematograph. The reproductions of tho best-known beauty spots are excellent, and include some fine pic..tures of : 'the wonders',of Rotorua and tho beauties of the southern sounds. The Dominion Day celebrations of 1908 are reproduced most faithfully, and no difficulty is experienced in picking out familiar faces iij the procession. Some beautiful waterfall scenes are screened, and the visit, of the Prince of Wales (now King George) to New Zealand, is also brought before the public again. During the evening -Mrs. Sutcliffo recited "The Midnight Charge" in a manner which won her a recall. -This evening is a special "cadets'" night, when those coming under this head will bo admitted to all parts of the hall for 6d. A matinee performance is to be given to-morfow afternoon.. SKATING RINK.: The expert skater is reaping iflio full advantage of the improvements effected at the Skating Rink by the new management, and the novice and tho management aro well pleased with tho present state'of affairs, so that everything is congenial, at tho rink. Although active skaters are many, onlookers swell the crowd, and appear to extract no little enjoyment from tho whirling throng.
