MORE HUNAN RIOTS.
OFFICIALS FLEE. Peking, May 26. Mobs at Yiyang (Hunan province) burned hundreds of bouses. The officials fled, and the town is at the mercy of tho rioters. Several villages havo been destroyed. AN INDIRECT WAY TO KILL A GOVERNOR. MISSIONARIES' NARROW ESCAPE. (Eec. May 26, 10.35 p.m.) Peking, May 16. The Rev. R. Voryard, belonging to the China Inland Mission at Changsha, give! a vivid narrative of tho missionaries' narrow escapo on April 14. Tho rioters, according to tho statement of a wife of a Chinese official, ; intended to kill the Governor, but as ' they were unable to directly accomplish this, they decided- to kill foreigners. . Their object ira 3 to ensure tho Governor's death, which they imagined would be the punishment demanded by the Powers. '
