SAILORS' REST.

t The committoa of the Wellington Sailors' Best, iu submitting to the contributors the nineteenth annual report for the year ending April 30, 1910, state that they regret that the donations still continue to show a falling-olf, and whilst in 190S they amounted to, .£159 4s. fid., in 1909 0(1., the period under review only produced «£l-1G 12s. lOd. It is true that a number of new subscribers have assisted the funds, but on the other hand some of those who for years past have been contributors have discontinued their subscriptions. The committee, therefore, earnestly request contributors again to assist by continuing on the list of subscribers and also by bringing the needs of the institution prominently under the notice of their friends with a view of receiving additional-support. The superintendent, Captain Bonner, continues to do excellent work for the visiting seamen and has regularly during the past twelve months arranged for pbpular weekly concerts for their entertainment, priends are requested to forward any used journals or literature for the read-ing-room or for distribution amongst the sailors on the various vessels leaving this port. In: terms of the Constitution, Messrs. A. V. Monro, J). Kyan, L. 11. 13. Wilson and G. Wilson retire from the committee, and Messrs. Monro and Kyan being eligible, offer themselves for election. Dr. Chappie, and Mr. J. H. N. A. Purnes having resigned during the past twelve months, and Mr. ft. Fletcher, taking his seat on the committee as chairman of the Jiarbouy Hoard, necessitate the election of contributors to fill the vacancies. The following gentlemen have kindly consented to be nominated: Captains Scott and M'Arthur, Messrs. Wallis, Taylor, and T. Smith. The resignation of Mr. D. T. Stewart as honorary auditor was received with regret, anil Mr. J. 11. G. Kowley, P.N.Z.A.A., was elected to fill the vacancv. The thanks of the committee are due to the Gas Company, Whitcombe and Tombs, Ltd., "livening Post," "New Zealand Times," Working Men's Club, Commercial Travellers' Club, Public Library, Parliamentary Library, C. M. Banks, and Messrs. llolhday, M'Kay, Shand, l-\ Cohen, Hill and Sons, and other kind friends for goods received, as well as those who have provided the usual weekly concerts to entertain visiting sailors to this poj't.
