PUBIJD NOTICEB. APOLOGY. In "The Spectator" of April 30, under the heading of "Personal l'ars," iv paragraph appeared, in which refereiico was innde to Ibe case of Captain l'\ 13. Knyvctt, of Auckland. The intention of tho writer was to travesty tho sympathy of the Auckland people for Captain Knyvett regarding his case. In the paragraph a statement was made that at a gathering in his sympathy, Captain Knyvett handed ronnd a collection bag for tho purpose of soliciting funds for the prosecution of his appeal to tho public in regard to his case. We now learn that no such gathering was held, and that tho whole paragraph was without foundation. W« therefore absolutely withdraw tho statements therein made, and unreservedly apologise jind express our deop regret to Captain Knyvett for the publication of tho article. We wish further to add that Captain Knyvett has taken no part in the agitation being carried on in his behalf by the peoplo of Auckland—From "The Spectator," Christchurch, Hay U, 1910. CHESS.
