In a speech there ho will reply to Opposition criticisms and discuss tho Government's propolis in regard to water power and the new defence scheme. Ho told a "Star" reporter that it was intended to introduce legislation amending the opium c- t .. ,r, Greymouth, May 24. fair Joseph Ward arrived from Christtiiurch this evening, and was accorded a ' most enthusiastic reception. Tho station platform was crowded with peonle, and oil tho representatives of the- local bodies'were represent. The Mayor extended a hearty welcome to the Prime Minister, and three cheers were given. The Prime Minister acknowledged the warm and hearty welcome, and said that ho was pleased to be again on the Coast. As the Prime Minister's carriage, left tho station the largo crowd cheered him. • Arrangements are being . made in all the towns of the Coast to entertain the Prime Minister. Ho unveils the Seddon Memorial to-morrow, and special trains will be run. All the schools in tho Grev and Wcstland districts are to be closed for the day, and the cadets and volunteers will lake part in to-morrow's ceremony.. The Prime Minister loaves tho Coast on Saturday morning. _ _ . Later. The Prime Minister will probablv establish a record to-dav, for quick travel between Wellington and tho West Coast. Sir Joseph left Wellington on the is. Maori at eight o'clock last night, and the steamer berthed at I.yttclton about twenty minutes before her usual time Hris morning. The train from the wharf to the city got away smartly, with the Tesult that 11m passengers were landed cm the Christchurch platform shortly after seven o'clock. The train for Broken River, which usually leaves at peven, was held back for ten minutes and the Prime Minister's car was attached. According to timo-table, Sir Joseph will arrive in Greymouth this evening at seven minutes past eight, just over twenty-four hours from Wellington. V ■■■
