PALMERSTON DAY BY DAY.
(By Telegraph.—Special OorreEDondent.) Palmerston North, May 22. Judgment was given yesterday in tie case Walter Soifert v. Adam Burges, heard before Judge Sim some time back, iu which plaintiff sought to restrain defendant from manufacturing flax-washing machinery which plaintiff alleged infringed his, patent. Judgment went for defendant, with costs. The Manawatu Savage Club opened the season last night with a ladies' night. Mr. J. A. Nash was instilled as Toa by the retiring Toa, Dr. Martin. A most enjoyable programme was rendered by members of the club and others. Mr. D. Buick, M.P., accompanied by Mrs. Buick, left yesterday on a holiday visit to Chrstchurch, Dunedin, and Invercargill. Mr. G. F. Hntton, of the Palmerston Magistrate's and Supreme Court staffs, has been promoted to bo clerk of the court at Coromandel. During his stay in Palmerston, Mr. Hutton lias made many friends, who will regret his departure very much. Ho was an esteemed member, of the Manawatu Referees' Association.
