Conditions continued disturbed until tho steamer, was within two days of reaching Australia. Oil was used to calm the waters. . N.S.W. COASTAL PHENOMENON. STEAMER'S LIVELY TIME. Sydney, May 20. During extraordinary high tides at Alladulla a few days ago, the water, with startling suddenness, broke right over the wharf, doing much damage. The mooring ropes of the steamer Eden (693 tons gross) broke,, and the vessel, to save herself, had to steam out. She- had a trying time, sometimes almost standing on end.
