IBy Teloeraph.-Special Correspondent.! Wanganui, May 16. Exceptionally high tides are being experienced on this coast, probably duo to the heavy southerly weather now prevailing. . _■ : i . ' At a meeting of workers held on Friday evening it was decided to form a Labour party in Wanganui with the object of contesting this seat at the next election. Two addresses in connection therewith will be given next wpek bv Mr. D. MTaren, M.P., who, while here, will confer with the party as to organisation for the coming campaign. A largely-attended memorial church parade was held yesterday, all the corps having largo musters. The troops marched to Trinity Wesleyan Church which was crowded. The Rev. J. E. Luxford, chaplain-major to the forces, preached an eloquent sermon and appropriate music was sung. The Hon. T. Mackenzie arrived here to-day, having journeyed-down the river in order to satisfy himself of the requirements in connection with scenic preservation. f The results of-his inspection will be embodied in a report which will be drawn up shortly for presentation to Parliament.
