THROUGH LEANING ON A GUN. (By TeleEranh—Press Association.) Nelson, May 16. At Sandy Bay,, near Riwaka, on Saturday afternoon, a young man named Richard Askew, aged 21 years, while leaning on a gun, was fatally shot through the hands and stomach, the gun being at full-cock. The victim lingered for ten hours. i THROWN FROM A RACEHORSE. (By TeleeraDh—' Special Correspondent.! Wanganui, May 16. Word was received here to-day of the death of a young man named Gill Whitmore, 27 years of age, at Waverley. lie was riding the racehorse Koran and leading another. The latter got away, and while Whitrnoro was attempting to catch it Koran fell, throwing the ridei heavily on the kerbing at the side of the street.. Doctors were soon in attendance, but Whitmore died soon after tho accident.
