The police are investigating -an attempt to poison Madame Marguerite Carre (leading soprano of; the Opera Comique) with corrosive sublimate in port wine, Two of, Madame Carre's guests ire seriously ill. i Madame Carre also received a parcel of butter, adulterated with oxide'of zino ten days earlier.
