WELLINGTON SHARE MARKET. A fair amount of business was done yesterday, but. the tendency oi the market is downward. Waihis slumped to £7 ISs. yesterday afternoon, and-the tall in these shares is dopreseinK the whole market. The Stock Exchange at a. nicotine yesterday mornins; passed ' the followine re-<;olution:-"Tliat this Exchange is of ouinion that the attorney of the ttaihi Comjiany should be asked to .moke an official statement as to the present state of affairs at the Wailii mine, and that the chairman of the Auckland Stock Exchange bo asked to act in the matter. • Tho resolution was telegraphed to the Auckland, Christcliurch, and Dunedin Exchanges. It is really time some reliable official information was given to the Diiblic. Waihia have been looked upon as a gilt-edped investment, and many people with limited means have put their all into these shares. Most of these people arc still holdinc.and if it turns out that the slump is justified by tho conditions in the mine it will be very hard on them.
