BARON ISLINGTON.
HIS IMPERIAL APPRENTICESHIP. By Teloerarb—Press hft, (Bee. May 2, 9.50 p.m.) London, May 2. The Goveinor-eleot of New Zealand, Baron Islington (formerly Sir John Dick-eon-Poynder), was the recipient of presentations from the tenants of his Wiltshire estates, Hartham and Hilmorton, in the Marlborough Down country. In the course of his reply, Lord Islington referred to hie recent experience aa a member of the Royal Commission appoiuted ,to investigate and report upon the measures that may be taten for the of closer trade relations and for the development of mutual trading facilities between the Dominion of Canada and the British West Indian Colonies. He stated that the investigation had brought him into close connection with the Imperial problems with which ho would be eo closely associated in the future. He would take an active share in strengthening the Imperai] ties, which New Zealanders were equally desirous of strengthening.
