GARRISON OFFICERS' CLUB.

ANNUAL REPORT. Tho annual report of the .Wellington Garrison Officers' Club, to be presented ai the annual meeting, which is. to be held at the Clubroom, Garrison Hall, on Thursday evening next, states that, the syllabus of lectures for the winter session of 1009-10 was of a very high standard, and the attendances of members throughout a groat improvement on those of the previous year, twenty-two new members were elected, bringing the club membership up to 117. The committee regrets that no competitors' came forward for the annual essay competitions. In a Tefcrenoe to the social functions organised under the auspices oi the club, the committee states that the Garrison Officers' Ball was an unqualified success. Several ea.: joyablc social evenings were also held, special mention being made of the enr tertaining lecture on the subject of "Ancient Maori Warfare," which was given by' Dr. Buck, M.l'., on one of the i'riday evening "club nights." These ulub nights, the committee remarks, in passing, wore not so well attended aa they inight have been. The report speaks in appreciative terms of the educative value of the staff ride which was held by the officers under the direction of Lieut-Colonel E. W. C. Cliaytor, and the hope is expressed that more' of this kind of work will 1» done during the coming session. The thanks of the committee are tendered to Colonel A. W. Hobin, C.B. (Chief of the General Staff), Colonel J. R. Purdy (Director of Medical Services), Lieut.-Colonel E. M*. C. Chavtor (Director of Military Education), Lieut.-Colonel Bauchop, C.M.G , .
