Tho scheme, which would bo carried out by instalments as required, provides for the construction, near Stnine6, of five reservoirs, with a total capacity ot about 20,900 million gallons. Tho water would bu taken from tho Thames some miles above Staines, aud led along an ,aqueduct. Objection has been made that the Thames suffers considerable pollution, which would grow with tho peculation.
