Occasionally he has handed out one or two hundred thousand pounds for miscellaneous objects. l One of the* most recent donations was £200,000 to investigate the diseaso known as hookworm in the Southern States. Mr. Bockefeller's list, by the side of the Carnegie 'gifts, is however, trivial.
