Sailors' ond Firemen's Union waited on the President of the Board of Trade, Mr. Sydney Buxton, on ■ tho subject of Chinese labour in British ships. The Minister said ho desired to lessen tho number of Chinese employed in British ships, and promised to increase the severity of tho language test. He also proposed to publish notices in all ports that Chinese and Lascars are entitled' to claim compensation from townars in case of accident.
