The only Minister of the Crown who will bo out of town to-day will be the Hon. T. Mackenzie, who is in the Auckland district. The Hon. J. Carroll, Minister for Native Affairs, who was expected to roach Wellington on Thursday from Gisborne, did not get back to town until last night. It was stated some time ago that Dr. Bell, director of the Geological Sur-: vey, had received an invitation to accompany Captain Scott on his expedition to the Antarctic. It is now announced that Dr. > Bell has decided not to go. ' , Mr. John Kirlicaldio was a passenger for Sydney by -the Manuka last evening. Mr. A. de B. Brandon left for Sydney last evening. He will be abseni about three weeks. The Bev. H. S. WooDoombe : tea-sel-ling secretary of the Church of England Men's Society, who hag been touring the Dominion'to address meetings of men in furtherance of the claims of the society, left by the Manuka for Sydney last night, en route to South Africa. Mr. Geo. A valedictory gathering took placo recently, when tne staff of the fi 6ifl- : borne Times" met to bid farewell to 'i Mr. M. E. Edwards, who was leasing far Auckland, en rouio for Sydney.
