By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. April 27, 10.20 p.m.) ' London, April 27. At the wool sales 9580 bales wore catalogued, a good average selection, including 6603 New fepa'inwl. There was a large attendant of European buyers, and a few Americans. There was a strong demand for merino, which was firm at top January rates. For merinos generally prices show an advance of from par to b per cent. Fine and medium crossbredH are unchanged, and coaroe orossbrcdH aro from par to 5 per cent, lower." Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agcncy Company, Ltd., have • received the following cablegram from their London hnufe, under dato April 26: —'"Thero was a good attendance at the opening of the sales to-day, competition by Home and Continental buyers being active, and prices as compared with tho closo of tho preceding series ruled in Hellers' favour for merino. Crossbred is unchanged, except for coarso crossbrcda, which arc. par to 5 per ccnt. lower. The opening catalogues were fairly representative." Messrs Lovin and Co. yesterday received tho following cablegram :—"The sales opened yesterday with a strong market for merinos. Fine crossbrcds were firm and con.rre crorohreds easier. Americans were not buying." The Bank of New Zealand yesterday received the following cablegram from its London branch, dated April 26:—"The sales havo opened with strong competition and large attendance of buyers. Thero is a good demand for medium and coarse crossbred*;. Prices were Id. to id. per lb. lower. Current prices for North Island farmers' lots, Palmerston North style, coarso crossbred, 36-40's, riuality (average condition), lOd. to 10Jd.; medium crossbred, 44-46's quality (average condition), lid. to 112 d.; t fine .crossbrcd, 50's quality (average condition), 13£ d. to 142 d. The market is strong. \ for all kinds of merinos.' Prices are higher par to. 5 per cent. . For. all kinds "of lambs' wool and superior sliped wools there is no change." ' Tiie United Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd.i havo received the following cablegram from their London agents, under date April-26:—"Tho third.series of wool sales opened to-day, and wero well, attended -by Home, Continental aJnd American buyers. Fine and medium crossbreds, show no quotable change; coarse crossbred from par to 5 per cent, decline, as compared, with closing rates of previous sale."

Messrs. Murray, Roberts and "Co.,v Ltd., have received: the following wool market cablegram- from their London .agents, Messrs. Sanderson, Murray and Co.i dated; April 26:—Sales have opened with a good attendance :of buyers, and brisk competition.-' The market shows no material change, except merino*-par to 5 per cent, advance; crossbred, coarse, par to. 5 per cent, decline. •

Mossrs. Abraham and 'Williams, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London agents, under date April 26; —The sales have opened with a good attendance of buyers and keen competition. The market for fine find- medium, crossbred is steady and unchanged. • Coarse crossbreds have declined 2h per cent., as compared with ldte rates, whilst -merinos are firm at 5 per cent, advance.

; The Commerce Division of : the Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner, London, dated April 26, regarding tho opening of the third series of colonial wool sales:—The wool sales opened with a large attendance of Home and Continental buyers, but Americans are 'holding - off. The market is strong for iuerinos and fino crossbreds at id. higher, and quieter for medium crossbreds at unchanged prices, and for coarse' crossbreds at id. lower than closing rates .of last-sales. New- Zealand wool catalogued for the series amounts to. 107,3C0 bales
