There was a very large attendance at Messrs. J. H. Bethiuic and Co.'s auction rooms yesterday afternoon,' wlien tliey held an auotion of a number of freehold properties. A fine valuable site in Willis Street, comprising land having a frontage of 42ft. 10in;, widening at the rear to 72ft., by a dopth of 110 ft., on which stands the buildings Nos. 50, 52, and 52a, occupied by Messrs. Hayes, W. S. Bedford, J. 6. Bay, and other tenants, was first submitted, and ' was purchased by Mr. T. G. if'Carthy, as agent, at ,£f)SOO. A block of .land, with brick building thereon, at ...tho. corner of Marion and Ghiizneo Streets, was submitted, but the reserve, not being reached, was passed in, as were also.two dwellings in Upper Dixon Street" of. seven and nine rooms respectively! These remain in-the bands oi the auctioneers for private sale on easy terms. '..Messrs.' A. L. Wilson and Co. will •hold an unreserved sale of hotisohold furniture, upright grand piano, and effects, at 4b Eoulcott Strict, to-morrow, at 1 o'clock.
