SPIRITUALISM.
Sir,—Tour journal published an article exposing the fraudulent practices of certain mediums (?). Quite right; bnt here is another side of the question. If, in your •desire'to-promote tho end 6 of truth,' such liberty of your valuable space is. .granted for the purpose herein mentioned, why not allow for publication • of matter pertaining to genuine phenomena that lias taken place, even in Wellington? Spiritualism as a-religion is accepted by. many of your. readers. Its phenomena and philosophy form a basis upon' which the. lives or these people are regulated to their upliftment spiritually and physically. Is it fair to them thq.t the* slur bo; cast with' no opportunity given to explain the .'truth , and falsity from their standpoint? Mediums there' are who can bo pointed out as the genuine '."instruments", of abnormal powers—powers .that, have -.awakened the earnest inquiry along- spiritual Mines. Others, again, .are bad and wholly false; deserving of exposure and punishment. There is nothing more contemptible than "faking the.dead." .If, of course, your, journal has a mission to perform, a desire to cleanse all religion, every sect in faot,. from that which. is base .and fraudulent, go .right on, Sir. Don't stop at spiritualism; there are othors to be considered in tho weeding process. Spiritualism \comjjares favourablv with Christianity in being one,.of'the greatest fields for fraud' and tho presentation of many, "wolves in sheep's clothing," Do;, wo brand the Christian Church' as'-Uni- 1 versally wrong because of ' its-.many-fallen; sons ?" No! This attitude is ap-' plicable, and justly so, to "the' 'great spiritualistic . movement. Thanking, you, I am, etc., ~ ~ ..-. .- .* .;., W.. NOBTONTATLOSi' ■ . • ' " V ... Occultist.
