- TAR-ANAKI DISCUSSION. ; At. its 'meeting- this week the Stratford' County ■ Council received a letter froni the Bltham County Council asking it to declare foxglove' a noxious, week. - Later.on a .discussion ensued, on, a'.proposal to.'declare' pennyroyal a noxious weed. Councillor Thomson said if this , went on farmers not be able to live on their sections.
The chairman said he agreed with the previous speakor., Ho did not know of the seriousness of • the plant,- except ,that experts said 'it brought aboui abortion. -He did: not like being a party, to.'ask' anyone to do wha:t was not possible,. an<l he was afraid :it was impossible to get rid of the weed. If it :was something a "man could do but' would not; it "w'as.; ; quite right,to 'drop on him, bnt he was afraid if this was ps-sced a man would be harassed by the inspectors. Of course, there , was . a danger of its spreading, was told it died .out- in five, or six'years." Ho was also told that sheep would not eat it unless starving. .. . 1 : A Councillor.
