HUTT AND PETONE NEWS.
(From Our. Special Correspondent.! — ■ ' It is understood that Mr. J. T. Hawthorn will bo a candidate for the vacancy on the Lower Hutt ' Borough Council. Tho Petone Rowing Club intend to hold a bazaar at- the beginning of November this vear. A very strong and energotic committee has been formed, and it is the intention of the club to a meeting of ladies willing to assist in the near future. A best-and-best four-oared boat is to be purchased for next Beason.
■In addition to members of the outgoing committee, Messrs. Kirk, Feikling, Town send, Brocklebank, Pickering, Cox, E. Pointon, and the Rev. T. A. Williams will be candidates for tho Petone School Committee, the election for which takes place at the school this evening.
The Rev. H. A. Kennedy, of the Church of England General Mission, will visit Petone next Tuesday, and will address a meeting of ladies in the afternoon. In the evening ho will occupy the pulpit at St. Augustine's.
