METHODIST CENTRAL MISSION.
: MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT: -)-. The following inspiriting message from the president of the New Zealand Methodist Conference (the Rev. C.'-H.' Laws) was read at the opening service of the Methodist Central Mission in the King's Theatre last Sunday:— "My dear Mr. Blamires,—The.inaugural tion of a liew mission-is a 'forward movement in the fighting line of the Christian Church. The;whole army, down to. the humblest unit in the last reserve, watches the advance. ."We wish, you well,' and give you a ringing cheer as you march out of your, encampment to-night. Wellington! is- a.' strategics centre of Christian /.in,...the! Dominion, and a victory. for/'Cluist there, will give us all.fresh heart 1 " If. you can strike the imagination, of J ±e churchless crowds,, if- you can;.-touck the vast numbers of "young '■' irieh,: and women who are outside definite Christian influences, if you. can do anything.to destroy the spirit of suspicion and alienation with which so many lof the workers view organised religion, and if you can bring a ministry of succour to the tempted, the outcast, the peer, the blessing of, the people's Christ, will rostf richly upon you. You begin your work at a most favourable time. After Dr. Henry?s mission the city will be athrilj with'a. quickened religious life.' .May,you carry on the work, and .find it' deepen.as you go on. I convey to yon the good wishes of our whole Church, and assure jou and . your 66-workers of our sympathy and-prayers."
