MR. WILFORD'S CANDIDATURE.

Mr. Wilford addressed a fair attendance of ratepayers in the' Methodist Schoolroom, Northland, last evening, Mr. Applcgarth being in the chair. Jα the course of his address, he advocated tho purchase by 'the city of tho Kelburno tramway, and its extension to connect .with tho Karori line. Ho thought that tho toll which people paid at present to _ use the Kelbiirho tram was an excessive one. A definite basis of terms should be arranged, so that when tho next. opportunity ; camo, to acquire the line tho civic authority would not bo found wanting. It was a curious .thing that when a.big company, like the Gas Company, or a big monopoly:liko. insurance was concerned, his opponent would not touch it. Workers, who used the car to town before 8 a.m. should bo able to buy workers' .return' tickets, entitling them to return after G p.m., otherwise, it their work closed later than that hour, they were debarred from benefiting, by tho concession to workers. Mr. Wilford detailed his policy, and criticised his opponent's policy, at some length. A vuLo of thanks and confidence' was passed unanimously.
