Mr. Birrell, Chief Secretary for Ireland, in a speech at Hoxton, said tho ureation of peers was tho ouly constitutional method to make the. will of the peoplo paramount. However undesirable and however unbecoming it would be to create all those peers, it was the fault of the Constitution. The "Daily Express" (Unionist) asserts that tho Government has done its best to compile a * list of possible peers, but is still 300 short !of the requisite number. ■
The executive of the National Liberal Federation, in view of the unprecedented number of resolutions from affiliated associations, has resolved to assure Mr. Asquith of the Liberal party's enthusiastic support of his veto policy., ' ■ ■. ,
In the House of Commons, the Prime Minister, ; Mr. Asqnitl, in reply to a question by Mr. Bathurst (Unionist), said he hoped the Lords' Veto Bill would bo published next week;
