RUGBY TEAM FOE AUSTRALIA. TO LEAVE ON JUNE 3. At the Rngby .football conference, held in Sydney iu February, ihe desire was expressed that Now Zealand should send a . team to .■ Sydney during this coming season. Since then'the New South Wales Bug by .Union has, with the concurrence of the Queensland Union, invited the New Zealand Union. to send over a team to play h series of matches in Sydney and Brisbane. A special meeting of-'the .Management Committee of the New Zealand Union whs-held in the rooms of the secretiiry (Mr. J; D. Avery) yesterday afternoon, when it" was' definitely decided to send a team .to ..Australia, tp leave Wellington for .Sydney on Friday, June 3. This announcement ''should'give a big fillip .to senioj' football throughout tha Dominion during the next sis weeks, as 'it.will'be tho desire of the committee to send' away the strongest combination, possible,, in. view, of the increasing strength of; the Australian unions. This impetus should be reflected'in the senior matches, Which, in 'Wellington anyhow, were not last..year remarkable for any particular brilliancy.
