MATERNITY HOME OPENED. <By Telesraph—Presa Association.) Gisborne, April 11. Sir Joseph Ward and Lady Ward were present this afternoon at the. opening of the maternity home that is being established on the lines of St. Helens Homes, The Government provided the site and subsidised £ for £ the thousand pounds collected in the district. The institution starts thoroughly furnished, equipped, and staffed free of debt. Lady Ward performed the formal opening ceremony, and speeches were made by the Premier, the Hon. Jas. Carroll, and Dr. Valentine. To-night Sir Joseph and Lady Ward wore entertained at a public social.
