SUPREME COURT SESSIONS.

At the Supreme Court, Mr. Justice Edwards sentenced Bernard Huse, aged 17, to twelve months' imprisonment for wounding a cow at Helensviller Harold W. Smith, for theft of money from his employer, to two years' hard labour. . George Frederick Hulme, aged 16, for breaking and entering at Hamilton, was admitted to probation, his lapse- being attributed to reiding sensational' literature. A half caste Maori lad named William Arthur, for breaking, entering, theft,' and forgery and uttering at Gisborne was sentenced to two years' imprisonment on each'charge, the sentences to be concurrent. A Maori named Eatene, ' aged 22,' pleaded, guilty to indecent assault •' at Whakatane. He asked for probation, as it was his first offence. The judge remarked there was morality of' the sexes amongst the Maoris, who must not be judged on the same level as a highlycivilised community. Accused was admitted to probation for twelve months, Frank Tozer was sentenced to six. months' imprisonment for forgery. Charles Edward Stuart, aged 30, was sentenced to ten' years' imprisonment for an unnatural offence. John Thompson was admitted to probation for two years for breaking and entering with intent to. commit a crime at Ongarue. •He entered the railway station while muddled with drink in the hope of getting more.
Christchurch, April 12. 1 A large amount of the arrears of: work at the Supreme Court was cleared np by Mr. Justice Chapman to-day. Almost everything dealt with was taken in: Chambers. His Honour stated that a judge would be in Christchurch about April 22 to take Banco work. '
