: ,' JACQUESTO LOAD GRAIN. On completion, of discharge of case oils at Wellington, the French barque Jacques is to enter upon a charter for. Messrß. Priedlander Brothers, of Ashburton, to load grain at Lyttelton for the United Kingdom or Continent 'of Europe. It is expected that discharging operations will be completed at Wellington • by Friday next, and the barque- will then take in ballast, leaving about April 14 for Lyttelton. MOVEMENTS OF THE GEORGIA. A telegram from Auckland states that the Austrian steamer Georgia, with case oil from New York, continued her voyage to Wellington yesterday.. Aftsr discharging a further ■ portion of her .cargo at this port' she proceeds to Lyttelton and Dunedin. On completion of discharge at Dunedin she takes the loading l berth on behalf of the il'ew Zealand Shipping Company. Departure of the Rimutaka for London has been fixed for noon to-morrow. Inoluding. stoppages to coal at Monte Video and Lae Falmas, the Anglo-Saxon made tho run from Wellington to London in 47 days. This is considered very good steaming for a vessel of her class. Tho Anglo-Saxon loaded at New Zealand ports for tho New Zealand Shipping Company, and sailed from Wellington on January 4. Captain Duncan, who has 'replaced Captain Kemp as master of tho Tyser liner Mimiro, is a son of tho owner of the ship Celestial Empire, which, by the way, is now in port at Sydney. Captain J. W. Bewley, of Williamstown ia establishing a reputation for the navigation of small craft on long deep-sea voyages. Reoontly ho reached WUliamstown in the yaoht Hurrica from Hobart after a passage of nine days. The yaoht had light weather and calms most of the way, but during the run across the 6tralt sho behaved excellently, although she had high running seas and a galo to contend with. Sho did not ship a drop of water and ran from E.ddvstone to Cape Schanck in 37J hours. Captain Bewley recently took tho small steamer Kelpie from Sydney to Fremantlo, and in February he took the yacht Corrlna from Geolong to Gippsland Lakes. A smart passage of 45 days from Eureka to Sydney was last week completed by the barquo Antiopo, which, it will bo remembered, put in here last year whon bound from Newcastle to San Francisco.

As coal supplies for the Buteshire have been slow in coming forward, it. is not expected that the liner will get away for London until to-morrow On completion of discharge at this port, the Union Company's Kurow proceeds to Wcstport. The coastal steamer Wairau is to be dispatched to Puponga to-day. An oil launch of the diagonal type, 40ft, - long, with a beam of Bft., is being constructed by Mr. 0. Bailey, iun„ of Auckland, to the order of the New Zealand : Shipping Company. The launch is to ba utilised for tendering steamers off Toko-; maru, with passengers, for the Union S.S. Company and the Huddart-Parker Company. The .launch is to be fitted with two 10 horse-power Standard (San Francisco) - engines, and will bo ready for launching ' shortly. ; Mr. Bailey has just completed three fine whaleboats for the cable stca- ■ mer Iris, and also two similar boats for . the Mclanesian, Mission, for work in tho ■ Islands. _Th© schooner Jessie Nicol was "towed clear of the Now River Heads on Friday afternoon at 5 p.m.; by the steamer Ihver-- ■ cargill, and sailed for the Macouarie Islands (says the "Southland Times").
