INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION.
GUARANTORS WANTED; ,:■. ; Mr. H. F. Allenj -the energetic secretary of the Wellington Industrial Association is hurrying .matters forward in connection with the Industrial • Exhibition to be opened in the Harbour Board's M TJ" shed on July 27 nest. The association has considered it advisable' to obtain guarantors in small ■amounts as a; provision against loss, though that contingency is considered a remote one. The circular reads as fpHoivs:— . V . ~ "It is decided that the exhibition be opened on July. 27 next, and that it shall remain open for at least one month'. : ;.. . ' ' ■■ "The object of holding the exhibition" is. to'• afford';'the, manufacturers of tie Dominion an ('pportunity of exhibiting their manufactures; to demonstrate to the people the excellence and great variety of' same,, besides affording the many attractions (musical, etc.) incidental to exhibitions. Influential-com-mittees .hive been set up.to carry out; ■all necessary details.' In order that filial arrangeirents may be made, the -Finance Committee has decided that guarantors be invited to guarantee sums :■ of: either £10, £15, or £20 respectively towards the expense of the undertak.ing.- •. . ■'■,•'■.. ' -Tlio last exhibition held in Wellington (1896-1897) resulted in the realisation of a net profit of £1600, of which amount a : siim of £1500 was donated to. the Wellington Teolihreal School. This donation, whicli the Government subsidised with, a like amount, enabled' tlie Technical School Board to build the J r iotoria. Street wing of the present Technical School building.
' 'Other New.' Zealand industrial exhibitions hold have resulted in more than meeting expenses. "It is not considered at all likely that the guarantors on this occasion will have to bo called upon to pay any part.of their guarantees, and feeling sure that you will be interested in the exhibition, and that you will approve of the .holding of it, you are' respectfully anil confidently asked to become a. guarantor for either of the sums named."
