Russell's Hntt Mayoral campaign will be held in the Hntt Town Hall on Thursday night at 8 o'clock; The candidate will deal with borough matters generally. . . The annual "social" of the Petone St. Augustine's Girls' Friendly Society, whioh was held last night, was a great success.--. An interesting programme was presented, and games were indulged in. There wero about'l4o people present, and the Rev. i\V. Heron occupied tho chair. •At the Petone Police Court yesterday morning, before Mr. 'J. W. M'Ewan, ,T.P., one offender, for drunkenness', was convicted and fined 55., in default 24 hours' imprisonment.
