CONGREGATIONAL SHIELD.

The Congregational Shield contest was brought to a close yesterday, when the • Terrace team defeated Newtown Congregational by 53 runs. The battlo for the shield was between Terrace; Newtown, and Courtenay 'Place,'- Terrace team having defeated Courtenay PJace last week by, four wickets. In yesterday's mateh Terrace made 65- in their first innings (Dakin 22, Brand 13), and ui their second innings they made 100 (Dakin 34). Newtown made 51 in their first turn at the wickets (Helliwell 10 not out), and 61 in their second innings (Helliwell 25). A PRESS MATCH. • A cricket match was payed on Kolburne Park yesterday between members of the literary staffs of the "Evening Post" and The Dominion.' An enjoj° able afternoon was spent by both teams, tho "Post" being defeated by seven wickets. The margin in favour of The Dominion would have been smaller had the "Post" not made a tactical error in closing its-second innings too early. Prossmen desire to thank Mr. Keu.
