Wanganui,. March 23. Messrs. Dolgety and Company report as follows:—At our Wangamii salo to-day wo yarded 4200 sheep and 250 cattle. AH classes of stock were in good demand, and wo effected a good clearance at full market rates. Good lines of ewes were well competed for, and prices for this class showed n» advance on our last sale. Cattle sold well, everything with the,exception of one small pen selling under the hammer. There was also a good attendance. Fat cattle sold at about the prer vious week's' rates. Store sheep were in good demand, aud fat lambs showed a further rise in values. Fat pigs also sold better than was the case last week. The yarding of store sheep was m;de. up principally of ewes, and, for anything of good quality, there was a keen demand. Wethers and rape lambs also sold well, and a line of iour-tooth halfbrad ewes made 18s. Gd., while another line of four-tooth crossbred ewes sold at 18s. Best two-tooth. ewes made 16s. to 175.; others,'Ms: to "lGs.; best four r tooth ewes, 15s. to 185.,' Gd:; medium; 13s. to 155.; best sound-memthed ewes, lls. lo ios.; others; ■ Bs. to'los. Gd. - There was a heavy yarding of. - fat lambs, and average quality was better than usual, only a'few unfinished lots being entered. There was keen competition auiong export buyers, and prices showed a further advance, especially for prime heavy-weights, which were .up about Is. per head, while ordinary weights wore 3d., to 6d. per lieid better. The range of prices was:—For ordinary freezing, weights, 13s.' sd. to 15s. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., .report having held their, fortnightly sale in the Waipoua yards, Masterton, yesterday, when they offered a heavy yarding of all classes of sheep; 11,000 came forward and, out of these,' 10,000 were disposed of at prices showing a decided advance on last sales. Ewes wero fully is. per head dearer, lambs were firm, and all lines were keenly competed for, a number of good buyers being in the market. The quality of the yarding was much above tho average, and some really good lines of ewes and lambs came under the hammer. Only a few wethers came forward, but all lines offered sold at an advance on last sale. There were some really good lines' of station ewes and lambs, and the large lines met with good eonii ' petition, ana were disposed of under the hammer. The drafts from.. ."Land's End," "Mataikona," "Fernyhurst," . and Messrs. W. H. Hooth, A. R. Tinkhum, W. H. and A..E. Booth, and Geo: Moore were all sold under excellent competition. Tie Land's End ewes commanded :much attention, a. line of 800 £.f.ni.' bringing •lls. 6d.; six-tooth, lls. lid.; and fiveyear ewes, 10s. 10d. The samo station's lambs (shorn) also sold we 11—374 at Bs. Id.; 1000 at. 7s. IOd. ; and 200 at 4s. 4d. A' nice line of six-tooth ewes, on account of Mr. J. Paku, mado 12s. 4d. and 13s. On account of Mr. Pearce Cotter, the firm sold a splendid line of lambs at 9s. 3d. Other quotations:—Mataikona two, four, and six-tooth ewes, lls. 3d.; four-year ewes, on account of.. Abraham and Willinms, Ltd., report on their Pahiatun. sale as follows: —We submitted a very full yarding of sheep, comprising over, GOOD, and a good entry of cattle- to an unusually large attendance of buyers. Bidding for both sheep and cattle was, on the whole, brisk, throughout, aiid we succeeded in quitting practically' tho whole of- our entry at prices' in: favour of vendors. We quote :—Two-tooth wethers,lls.. 9d. to 12s.
