RACING FIXTURES. March 26 an( j 28-Wairarapa B.C. Autumn. March w. 23, and 29,-Aucldand' B.C. Autumn. March 28-Waipuktirau J.C. Annual. March 28 and 29—Feilding J.C. Boater. March 28 and 29-Cauterbury J.C Autumn. NOTES AND COMMENTS. [Br Glencoe.] The Wairarapa Racing Club's meeting commences at Tauherinikau on Saturday, and as good acceptances have been received for the different events an interesting day's sport should sult. The Porirua representative, Diabolo, who was shipped south last, night, looked very i'resh and well, considering the racing which he has had, <snd his tTainer expects him to give a good arcount nf himself at the Cauta luiiy Jockey Club's meeting. Tha whole of the Trentham trainers are now absent from headquarters, and the tracks are bearing a very deserted appearance. King Try, who won the principal race at the Gr.ey Jockey Club's meeting yesterday, was n double winner at the Westport meeting last week. A telegram from Greymouth states that Mr. Angus Keith, who was recently appointed starter to the West Cnast racing clubs, made his first appearance at Greymonth yesterday, and created a favourable impression. Royal Scotland, a three-year-old ■halfbrother to Mister neult, was shipped from Auckland to Sydney last. Monday by the Winrmera. He is now owned by an Indian sportsman. • : " It is understood that a patron of C. Pritchard's stable has purchased the St. Ambrose—Marlin colt from Mr. A. Barclay for £100. The statement that Mr. S.. Whit-' worth made an ofler to Mr. Pators-jn for Penatoa is incorrect. . The Hon. J. D. Ormond is sending a number of thoroughbreds to Sydney for salo. They were shipped from Auckland by the Wimmera last Monday. , ■ Splendid acceptances have been, received, for the, hurdle events at the Ellorslie, Patea, Peilding, and Christchurch( meetings, and the cry' about tho dearth of hurdle horses would seem to be somewhat wide of the mark. Somp .owners.aver that it is only the want of an increase in stakes which causes owners to leave their, hurdle horses in .their boxes.' . : :

At Awapuni G. Price has broken in three rising two-year-olds, and all are showing aptitude for the racing gamo. The youngster by Field Battery from Our Lady is a particularly promising animal, and so is the St. Ambrose — Marseillaise colt, which was purchased at the Waikanae sale of yearlings.

Penates is now a firm favourite in the Easter Handicap at Riccarton, and it was freely mentioned in town yesterday that the reason of the heavy support forthcoming for tho big bay horse was that he had put up a Hutt track record over four furloDgs. . v

Boanerges,- who was shipped, south lust night in charge of his trainer G. Price, will be ridden in the-Easter Handicap by H. Price. It is worthy, of note that A. Oliver expressed-the opinion after riding Boanerges in the Jackson Stakes at Wanganui that, if that race had been a seven-furlong event, the Awapuni horse might have won.

Masterful, who won a race at Greymouth yesterday, was formerly an inmate of the Porirua -stable* .•■;..,-.

It is now stated definitely that All Red has run his last race, and that ho- will leave Porirua shortly for Oamaru. ;to do stud , duiy'on his owner's station; W. Mould is severing his ■ connection w.ith the Porirua stable, and will act as stud groom in charge of All RecK

Wimmera is now a greatly-improved horse, and it would have taken a smart performer to have beaten'the Merriwee gelding on either day of the Napier Park meeting. Bridge, in the same stable, is also hotter than he ever was;before, and ■although he did not win at Napier Park,' he is expected to improve on that form before long. ': .■ ,

Downfall's efforts on the tracks at Randwick last week greatly pleased the track watchers. :

■ A. Wood rodo Bobrikoff in the Rawson Stakes at Rosehill last Thursday.

Aborigine is again in work under A. Rayner's tuition at Randwick. . ,

The "Sydney Morning Herald" of last Friday says: —Interest in the contest for tho Rawson Stakes at Rosehill yesterday was discounted by the. fact that the anticipated battle between Bobrikoff and Halt King did not eventuate, as the colt, who is being reserved ' for the encounter with. Prince Footo in the A.J.C. St. Leger, was withdrawn, leaving Blue Book, Enchaiiteur, Hoax, and Britain to measure strides with the New Zealander. Bobrikoff was made a good favourite, Blue Book and Hoax being regarded as his most dangerous opponents, while expansive odds could be had about Britain and Enchauteur, the former of whom had an allowance of 141b. from w.f.a. Bobrikoff, who moved in rather scratchy fashion in his preliminary, was tailed off half a dozen lengths behind his field for tho first half of the journey, in which Enchanteur and Blue Book were in the lead, but nearing the half-mile post the New Zsalander began to make up,his leeway, and with Hoax at his side escorted Britain (who had taken .charge at the bond) into the • home stretch. "Making the best of his concession, Britain battled along in front to tho half-distance, where Hoax cut him" down, but Grafton's daughter had soon afterwards to strike ■ her colours to the favourite, who comfortably accounted for her in a few strides. Hoax, who has been allotted Bst. 61b. in the Doncaster Handicap; had 51b. more in the saddle in tho Rawscm. Stakes. .
