REPORTS OF COMMITTEES. The fortnightly meeting of the City Council was held last evening, and was attended by: The Mayor (Dr. A. K.Newman), and Councillors Luke, Smith, Cohen, BalHnger, Frost, Trevor, Atkinson, Devine, Filzgerald, Carmichael, liindmarsh, and Fletcher. ■ FINANCE AND PROPERTY. .The Finance and Property Committee recommended: That five applications; for loans on deferred payment to carry out drainage works bo granted, the applicants being without funds; that tenders bo called for the purchase of machinery (boiler; engine, and two chaff-cutting - machines), bought from Mr. Fitchett with the land for the Karori catchment, area; that the application of Mr. A.
