Mr David Crewe, who has been elected six times in succession Mayor of Pahiatua, has now been unopposed to represent the Boroughs of Eketahuna and Pahiatua on. the Wairarapa Hospital and Charitable Aid Board--Pahiatna correspondent. PETONE. A good deal of interest was taken in the ■poll at Petone yesterday, and motor-cars were busy all day conveying electors to and from the booths. The number of votes recorded for Mr• • MUwaji were just two short of those cast in favour of the councillor who . topped the poll at the last election, from which fact it will be seen that polling was brisk. Auckland, March 16. The following were' the successful candidates at to-day's election ,of the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board: —City: Messrs. P. J. Ncrheny, P. M. Macka.v, J. S. Dickson, and P. J. H. Ellisdon. Combined Boroughs of Mount Eden, [Gxey' Lywv Parnoll, Nowmarkot, Oaa>
hunga, and Ellerelie town district: Messrs. H. Schofield and E. H. Potter. Combined Boroughs of Do von port, Birkenhead, and Northcote: Dr. W. G. Guinness. Waitemata and Rodney Counties, and Helensville town district: Mr. F. Dye (unopposed). Eoad districts of Eden County: Messrs. M. J. Coyle and J. Jenkin (unopposed). The representative of the Manukau County Road District will be elected on March 30. The voting was small in tho city, the highest candidate receiving only 1030 votes but of a total of over 19,000 electors on the roll.
CHBISTCHURCH: LADIES ELECTED. Christchurch, March 16. ■The election of seven members to represent the city of Christchurch on the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board resulted in the return of five out of the seven on the "People's Progressive ticket," including three ladies. The following were elected Mrs. Cunnington, 1191; Mr. C. Allison, 1158; Mrs. Wilson, 991; Mrs. Ensom, 913; Mr. W. . Tanner, 885; Rev. W. J. L. Closs, 193; Mr. T. Gapes, 713. Messrs. Allison and Gapes were previously on the board. It is estimated/ that out of a total of 17,000 on the roll only 1400 voted. The Socialist candidate was last on the poll. LADIES SUCCEED AT NELSON. ' (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Nelson, March 16. , The Hospital and Charitable Aid Board election to-day resulted in the return of Messrs. Field and Lock and Mesdames Fell and Watson. Very little interest was taken in the p9*l, only between six and seven hundred out of 3671 voting. . Blenheim, March 16. Very little interest was taken in the hospital elections to-day, only about 120 electors taking the trouble to go to the poll in the borough.
