At tii-s beginning ot the race there was harcllj any wind, and many of the yachts whicii hud entered did not turn out, probablj for this reason. Later, however, a'-gooc "northerly" eprang' up. The following were the handicaps:—Janet, scr.; Lizzie 15min.; Taipare, gOmin.; and Waitangi >omm. Janet maintained a good lead, arriving home first, at 7h. 24niin. Lizzis :anie in next,, at 7h. 48min. 30sec, and i'aipare, 7h: 57min., was third. Waitangi gave the race up, and . returned tioine under her engine. The following was the course:—lron starting-line to mark boat, five * mile; south-east from Black Kock, which was tc be:left to. starboard if the prevailing wind was northerly, and -to port if th< brneze were southerly. The yaohte used the main entrance. '■. TE AKO SAILING CLUB. On Saturday afternoon the Te Aro Sail ng Club hold an ocean race, the courw Ming once, round the P.N.Y.C.'s No. 1 ;ourse. The following were the hahdiscr.; Redwing, smin.; Lotus, LOinin.; Ishmael, 12min. j Doreen, 12min.; Kival, 13min.; Vale'ta, 20min. Redwing. sailed by Mr. M. Hamill, completed flit ipurse in 2h. 20min., but the race was von by Ishmael, finishing at 4h. 50min, lOsec, vith.Valeta'Sh. 2min. second, and Sedwing, 4h. 49min. 30sec, third. Th< ither boats finished as follow:—Nan ih. ssec; Lotus', 4h. 55min. 25sec; Doreen, sh. llinin. 16sec.; and Rival, sh. imin.
