In the House,of .Commons the Secretary, of State for Foreign Affairs, Sir Edward Grey, replying to a question regarding the emigration of army reservists, 6aid such emigration should only be permitted to a limited extent. With regard to soldiers who had completed their engagements, thei Army Council would be glad if employment with the oversea Dominions' defence forces could be guaranteed for, say, 'two .years. '. This -.would enable them to take up work for which they were fully qualified, and, benefit the Dominions. While the Government would settle them down in their new environment, no advances of. reservists' pay .could be made.-.' ■ Sir Edward added that no definite steps had yet been taken to ascertain the Dominions'. : views on the subject.
