In the first of the three races for tha Sayonara Cup, Sayonara, the defender, defeated Culwalla 111 by' eight minutes. THE BACK DESCEIBED. (Eec. March 12, 1.10 a.m.) Melbourne, March 11. The course was tan knots to windward and back.. The wind was light and the sea smooth. > Culwalla crossed tie line three seconds ahead of' Sayonara, and kept the advantage for a time, but at the end of an hour Sayonara waa a minute ahead, which, on rounding the buoy, she had increased to nine minutes five seconds. .(The ' wind freshened "o. bit on the re* -turn journey and, Cujwalla managed niake up a hit: of ground, but Sayonara proved too good, and won eaaily by eight minutes twenty-six seconds.
