ATTACK MATCH.
Competitors assembled at' the seat of the 500 yards monad where their arms were inspected, triggers tested, and ammunition supplied. They were then marched to the firing point at the 500 yards range to await the huglo-call, when they advanced'to tile 400 yards range and. fired three, rounds at figure targets, upon which were bull's-eyes invisible to the firer. Any position of' firing—standing, sitting, "kneeling, or prone—was' permitted. After on interval;of issec. the "cease lire" sounded when the competitors waited for a' space, of- 15' seconds for the second signal to advance to the 300 yards firing point where three more rounds were fired. A similar operation followed at the 200 yards .mound, after which the rifles were inspected, and the competitors doubled back to the starting point. During the attack competitors were-not allowed to adjust their rifles, sights, or load while ■ advancing, and all breeches were required to be kept.open. Points were, awarded on a basis of five for each hit, bull's-eves only ccfcnting to decide ties. The possible score was nine hits (45 points). Prize money, ,£6O, apportioned according- to, results. The winner received ,£5 and the second man £i. The next, two were awarded .£3 each. There were ; also three prizes of £2 each, two of 4fi 10s. each,- and 36 of £1 each. Results:— ■ Corpl. .1. A.
