An easterly gale prevailed on Saturday and Sunday north of East Cape and Kaivliia. Rain has fallen.in those parts and also on the East Coast :of the' South Island. .Barometric pressure continued low. in the'far north, but decreased slowly in' the south. Present indications are- for a falling barometer everywhere, and . probably very low in about 36 hours. Northerly winds, strong to gale, probable generally.
