THE MASTERTON LIST. , !By Teleeraph.—Special Correspondent.) Masterton, March 1. . The case in "which W-ong Gee and Ueii Gen were charged with wilfully' setting fire to a shop in Queen Street occupied the attention o£ the Supreme Court at Masterton all yesterday morning, and the jury, after retiring for two hours and three-quarters, returned a verdict of not guilty against Wong Gee and guilty against Uon Gen. His Honour, Mr., Justice Chapman, in passing sentence, said that ho would take into consideration the fact .that accused had always borne a good character. Ho would be sentenced to threo years' imprisonment with hard labour. John Walker was charged with breaking and entering tho house of. G. W. Doller at -Carterton, and, further, with being illegally on tho premises by night. Evidence was given to tho effect that accused , was in an intoxicated condition at the time, and, whilo tho fact of his being o'n the premises was admitted, it was contended that, in his intoxicated state, he had entered the house late at night, thinking that it was a hotel. Tho jury, after a short retirement, returned a verdict of not guilty.
